The Role
Due to rapid business growth, the Business Advisory team in our Shepparton and West Melbourne office is seeking Senior Accountants to join their growing team. In this client-centric role you will have exposure to a varied client portfolio and will provide a range of accounting, compliance and advisory services. You will be supported by a close-knit, high-performing team, and have opportunities to refine your skills and expertise in this role, creating a positive environment for career growth.
As an Accountant you will be responsible for:
- You will play a key role in the delivery of the monthly financial results pack including insightful analysis of the results against the prior month, budget and/or forecast
- You will be able to apply your technical accounting knowledge regularly as you will be exposed to some complex but interesting entity structures
- You will have the opportunity to drive process improvement initiatives leveraging the data and technology available to provide valuable financial insights to the business
- You will be responsible for the financial calculations required to ensure compliance with regulatory bodies like ATO, SRO, WorkCover etc.
- Assisting the business in understanding and proactively managing their budget through the preparation of monthly reports
- Commentary against budgeting and forecasting
- Assisting with managing technical accounting areas, including but not limited to Capital Gain tax, FBT, Payroll tax, Business acquisition and goodwill recognition journals, Loan refinance entries etc
- You will be responsible for a number of daily and month-end activities such as posting and reviewing month-end journals, processing payments, preparation of GST/BAS returns and cashflow analysis.
- The role will include involvement in the year-end and half-year-end audit process
- You will be responsible for maintaining strong internal controls, including the preparation of balance sheet reconciliations and raising any identified control weaknesses
- Review and Finalise lodgements, Financials and tax returns
- Review financial reports and tax schedules prepared by intermediate accountants for finalisation.
- Responsible for daily general ledger and prepare for month/year-end closing
- Assist in preparing Quarterly management reports
- Assist in implementing Finance projects that deliver process efficiency and enhanced control for selective clients.
- Assist in new systems implementation, Xero third-party app integration and inter-entity reconciliation
- Any other ad hoc requests from Partners
As our ideal new team member, you will have:
- Preferably have a Minimum of 5- 8 years of experience in a local public accounting practice as an Accountant or Senior Accountant
- CA/CPA qualified (or near completion) & Experienced expert in Accounting Standards & tax law
- Outstanding communicator with a passion for driving change in a scaling environment
- Big 4 background/business services background (advantageous)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced Excel
